KATHRYN PODREBARAC
Kathryn Podrebarac graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1992. After practicing for several years at one of Canada’s leading national full-service law firms, Kathryn practiced with Bonnie Tough at a litigation boutique before founding their own firm, Tough & Podrebarac LLP.
Kathryn’s practice focuses primarily on commercial litigation, arbitration and class actions. She has acted as counsel in a wide range of complex disputes involving all types of commercial contracts and commercial torts, including conspiracy, unlawful interference with economic relations, inducing breach of contract, breaches of confidence and fiduciary duties, misrepresentation and breaches of the Competition Act. She has also been involved in a number of oppression remedy cases commenced under federal and provincial business corporations legislation. Her class actions experience includes product liability and pensions cases.
Kathryn has appeared before all levels of the Ontario Courts, the Federal Courts and the Supreme Court of Canada. She has also been counsel in domestic arbitrations and international arbitrations under the UNCITRAL Model Law.
Kathryn is a frequent speaker and co-chair of continuing legal education programs for The Advocates’ Society and the Ontario Bar Association and is a trained litigation skills instructor for The Advocates’ Society and the Intensive Trial Advocacy Workshop of Osgoode Hall Law School. She has published in the areas of civil litigation, evidence and class actions. Recent speaking engagements and publications are listed below.
In addition to her significant commitment to continuing legal education and mentoring articling students and junior lawyers, Kathryn’s other professional volunteer activities have included acting as a judge of moots at the Osgoode Hall and University of Toronto law schools and providing legal advice to street youth at Covenant House.
